Latin Dance Classes |
|
The First Latin Dance Classes Back in 1993, long before salsa meant much to anybody in Edinburgh, Ana organised the first Latin dance classes with a Mexican friend, as clearly there was a need to introduce the uninitiated to the music and show them a few steps. Alba Higgins and Carol Ann from now run a class at the beginning of every fiesta, for those who arrive early! Alba is Venezuelan. Her charisma, style and love for her culture are an inspiration to everyone. Her contribution to Latin dance in the City has been exceptional. Carol Ann is considered by many to be the best salsa dancer in Scotland and beyond! She even showed Prince Charles a few steps on his recent visit to Edinburgh! (For details of classes see below.) |

Dont miss the free dance class with the Salsa Angels at the beginning of each Fiesta from 9.30pm! |

You're probably not far from a class, if you want to learn, wherever you live. Most classes focus on teaching steps and routines. Don't be put off if you think you have no sense of rhythm or find the idea of dancing with a partner a bit daunting. Remember that real salsa is fun, spontaneous and unintimidating. Albas skill lies in her ability to encourage a true feel for the music. Once you stop feeling self conscious, you'll grasp the rhythm and youll be amazed at what you can do, however many left feet you think you have! It will also keep you fit!
